The Chicago Bears need more help on the defensive line, this time at end

Pass rushers are important in the NFL. If you have a good front four, it allows the secondary and linebackers to be able to play freely. It helps with takeaways from corners and safeties when the defensive line can apply pressure on any quarterback. The defensive line might be the weakest position group on the Bears’ roster now.

I think the Bears need to look to the 2023 NFL Draft and free agency here. Free agency will be key, but Ryan Poles should also add some depth in the mid-to-late rounds. Dominique Robinson has shown plenty of flashes and is still raw. Should he take a step forward in 2023, that would be fantastic for this team. However, Poles cannot count on just that. Trevis Gipson was supposed to be that guy this year and has regressed. Poles needs to find a legit edge rusher who can help this roster desperately.

Where to find one: Free Agency

I am hoping that Poles focuses on free agency first at this position. I’d like to see someone like Yannick Ngakoue or maybe take a shot on a guy like Zach Allen. If they look at a veteran with talent and not worry about age, then these names are also an option: Justin Houston (played for Eberflus before), Dawuane Smoot, DeMarcus Walker, Dre’Mont Jones, Carlos Dunlap or Dante Folwer, Jr. Note that not all of these players will reach free agency despite their contracts coming to an end.
