2. Chicago Bears HC Matt Eberflus has become a leader

Yes, Matt Eberflus is the defensive coach, and the team has an awful defense.  Still, as we noted that is much more player related than scheme. Multiple rookie UDFAs play for that defense every week, and sometimes they are not the biggest problem.

Still, while the talent will get better, one thing you have to like is how Matt Eberflus has adapted as a leader. He is the CEO of the team, and he lets Alan Williams run the defense, and Luke Getsy runs the offense. You never saw Matt Nagy do that, as he held onto play calling for his life.

The effects have been notable. The team is great at closing out halves. They do well with challenges, avoiding penalties, and game management, and they never get blown out. Eberflus pushes his team to fight until the end, and it is obvious that they rally around him.

It was fair to be skeptical of Eberflus when they hired him, and the results have not shown, but if you see how he operates from the day-to-day you can see that the team has a leader of men, and that should be exciting.
