The Chicago Bears were blown out in a 31-10 loss to the New York Jets. In a game that added injury to insult, things progressively went downhill for the team in this game. They were already sitting Justin Fields, and the injuries started to rack up, making it impossible to compete.

What are the biggest injury takeaways from the game, and what is the status of each player?

Chicago Bears lose Darnell Mooney for the season

The Chicago Bears star wide receiver got rolled up on and had an ankle injury. While we have not gained complete evaluations on most players, this one was serious enough that the medical staff did not need to take long to make a ruling.

The team has already ruled Darnell Mooney out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. This ends a disappointing year for Mooney, who was a victim of the passing game issues early in the season.

Now, the team will have him enter his fourth year, the last one on his rookie contract. Contract talks will only get tougher after a down year statistically was met with an injury heading into the offseason.

Perhaps the Chicago Bears can get him locked up on a cheap extension? Either way, it impacts the wide receiver room in a big way. Chase Claypool was finally more involved, and when Mooney went down, the team went to Claypool and Equanimeous St. Brown on the outside with Dante Pettis in the slot.

This will likely be the way going forward, with Byron Pringle in the fourth wide-out role, as someone who moves in and out of the slot. With Mooney injured once Claypool got involved, we really never got to see the duo unleashed together. That is a shame.
