The Chicago Bears have now fallen to 3-9 on the season. This means that Matt Eberflus’ first year as a head coach in the NFL will end in a losing season. Even if the Bears win out the rest of their games — they obviously won’t — then they’d finish with an 8-9 record.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              A losing season was to be expected based on the way the offseason unfolded. Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus came together and declared this team a rebuild despite never wanting to use the actual word. I’ll be honest, I thought the team would amount to a better record than we have seen, but unfortunately, the team hasn’t learned how to win.

We won’t know everything that is being said or everything going on behind the doors of Halas Hall, but I’d have to assume that this was a predetermined plan. A plan that allows both Matt Eberflus and Ryan Poles to remain calm in their positions. Poles has torn down all of the structures that Ryan Pace put in place. Tearing this franchise down to the studs, no matter the caliber of the player or the salary is the only way to find true growth. We are hoping to see that in 2023.

Ryan Poles has his work cut out for him. He has the 2023 NFL Draft and a new pool of free agents to comb through. This franchise was helped out by a few teams in regard to the draft.

The Panthers beating the Broncos moves the Chicago Bears draft spot

Prior to this week’s game, the Chicago Bears were slotted to pick from the third-overall draft slot. The only two teams ahead of them were the Panthers and the Texans. With the Panthers’ defeat of the Broncos, the Chicago Bears moved from third overall to second. The season is far from over, but holding one of those top two picks could be ideal for any team not in the need of a quarterback.

For anyone thinking the Chicago Bears still need to find one, well, you can kindly find a different team to be a fan of from now on. Justin Fields is “that dude” and the future of Chicago Bears football. The net return that Ryan Poles should be able to receive for the second-overall pick should help this roster immensely.
