The NFL has almost an abundance of great young quarterbacks, mainly including (in no particular order) Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tugavailoa, Lamar Jackson, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, and of course, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

For the majority of these quarterbacks, their success came relatively quickly. Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow led their teams to at least Super Bowl appearances in their second seasons as a starter, and Lamar Jackson joins Mahomes as quarterbacks to win league MVP in their first two seasons in the NFL.

However, for almost half of these names, their teams helped their young quarterbacks in a very interesting way early on — getting them a familiar target to throw to. For Burrow, Hurts, and Tugavailoa, these quarterbacks all received a wide receiver via the NFL Draft that they played with in college — Jamar Chase, DeVonta Smith, and Jaylen Waddle, respectively.

The Chicago Bears should pair Justin Fields up with a former teammate

This whole concept got me thinking about how Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears could make this happen here in Chicago. Justin Fields has played with some very talented WRs out of Ohio State. Could Poles find a way to pair up Fields with one of his former teammates? It’s been working well for many other teams.
