The Chicago Bears had a copious amount of injuries and roster shuffling that came from those injuries. With that in mind, many fans may not recognize the roster when they take on Green Bay in a few weeks.
Since the roster has been updated so much, this was a good time to reset and view where things are.
Chicago Bears Quarterbacks (3): Justin Fields, Trevor Siemian, Tim Boyle
The team chose Boyle over Nathan Peterman. Keeping three QBs on the 53-man roster may signify that one of Fields or Siemian will also be out on Sunday.
Running back (4): David Montgomery, Darrynton Evans, Trestan Ebner, Khari Blasingame
Khalil Herbert is on the IR. Darrynton Evans beat out Ebner for RB2 snaps last week.
Wide Receiver (6): Chase Claypool, Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones, N’Keal Harry
Dante Pettis is banged up, and he was the primary slot when Darnell Mooney left. Chase Claypool was the top wide receiver last week.
Tight End (3): Cole Kmet, Trevon Wesco, Ryan Griffin
A position with no changes. Wesco beat out Griffin for TE2 snaps a few months ago.
Offensive Line (10): Braxton Jones, Riley Reiff, Cody Whitehair, Teven Jenkins, Sam Mustipher, Alex Leatherwood, Larry Borom, Ja’Tyre Carter, Dieter Eiselen, Michael Schofield
The team has both right tackles, Riley Reiff and Larry Borom banged up so they may be leaning on Alex Leatherwood this week.
Interior Defensive Line (5): Justin Jones, Armon Watts, Mike Pennel, Angelo Blackson, Andrew Brown
The Chicago Bears just signed Andrew Brown, and it will be interesting to see how much he is used.
Edge Rushers (4): Trevis Gipson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, Dominque Robinson, Taco Charlton
Charlton hardly plays as the fourth edge rusher, which has shuffled from Robinson, to Kinglsey Jonathan, to Gerri Green, and now has settled at Charlton.
Linebackers (5): Jack Sanborn, Nicholas Morrow, Matt Adams, Joe Thomas, Sterling Weatherford
Sterling Weatherford appears to be healthy after missing the last two games. He is a special team asset.
Cornerbacks (6): Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, Kindle Vildor, Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, Justin Layne
With Gordon out, we have seen plenty of Jones, Blackwell is a special teams ace, and Layne has been getting into the mix in that area.
Safety (4): Jaquan Brisker, DeAndre Houston-Carson, Elijah Hicks, AJ Thomas
Hicks saw real snaps for the first time Sunday and maybe start if Brisker is still on the concussion list. A.J. Thomas has been with the team since he signed on draft weekend.
Chicago Bears Special Teams (3): Cairo Santos, Trenton Gill, Patrick Scales
Basically, this group and tight end is the only place for stability.
