5 Chicago Bears looking forward to the bye week
1. Chicago Bears Injured players can get healthy
The Chicago Bears have a lot of players listed as healthy who need a break because let’s face it, no one is healthy at this point. Still, the team also will be able to use the bye week to get some players back for the stretch run.
Both Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker have missed the past two weeks with concussions. While the symptoms could always linger, you would have to assume that after three weeks off, both will be able to get back into the lineup.
Khalil Herbert will still miss at least one game after the bye week, but it is still nice for the team to see Herbert get healthy this week when a game is not being played. Beyond that, the team has so many questions at right tackle.
Larry Borom is unlikely to play this week, and Riley Reiff has a back injury. Then, there is Alex Leatherwood, who may be starting for the first time. If he does start, the team could get him the bye week to get into the groove, and then possibly come out ready to fire.
If Leatherwood does not start, perhaps the bye week is the time to tell him that he is going to get a bigger role when the team gets back into the practice facility. Either way, they should see both Borom and Reiff closer to full strength after the bye.
Four or five players will be healthy enough to get back into the lineup after the bye week. That is a sign of how valuable this will be.
