Comparing Chicago Bears linebacker, Jack Sanborn to Brian Urlacher
No matter how you feel about Brian Urlacher the person, he was a great linebacker for the Chicago Bears. This is why he has been enshrined in the Hall of Fame. No one is realistically putting Jack Sanborn in the Hall of Fame after four starts in the NFL. That would be ridiculous. However, I thought it would be fun to look at the per-game stats of Urlacher’s rookie season to Jack Sanborn at this point in his rookie year.
"Jack Sanborn – Four Starts for the Chicago Bears 8.5 Solos Per Game 2.25 Assists Per Game 0.5 Sacks Per Game 1 Tackles For Loss Per Game Brian Urlacher – 14 Starts for the Chicago Bears as a Rookie 7 Solos Per Game 2.33 Assists Per Game 0.57 Sacks Per Game 1.14 Tackes for Loss Per Game"
Urlacher had two interceptions and one fumble recovery in his rookie year.
Again, just because Jack Sanborn’s per-game stats are very similar, if not better in some areas, than Brian Urlacher’s during his rookie season, it doesn’t mean Sanborn will become Urlacher. This was just something fun to look at. The four-game sample size can drastically change compared to the 14-game sample size we saw from Urlacher as a rookie.

The whole point here is that Jack Sanborn has been fun to watch. He’s an undrafted free agent (UDFA) out of Wisconsin who has proven he deserves to be in the NFL despite not having some of the same measurables as Urlacher. Let’s see what he does vs. the Packers today.
