The Chicago Bears make three trades in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft
The Houston Texans took C.J. Stroud with the first-overall pick in this mock draft. As soon as the Chicago Bears were on the clock, phone calls came in and I had four offers on the table. The best offer was from the Seattle Seahawks who offered the third-overall pick, the 20th-overall pick, the 35th-overall pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick. I wasn’t a fan of that sixth-rounder and sent a counteroffer that Seattle accepted.
Things did not stop there though. The Seahawks didn’t take a quarterback. Instead, they selected EDGE rusher, Will Anderson. This opened the door for another team to want to trade up for a quarterback. This time, it was the Atlanta Falcons with the best offer. I didn’t hesitate or counter and accepted this original offer.
By making this trade, I quickly said goodbye to defensive tackle, Jalen Carter. Carter is a legit prospect, but I wanted to see these trades through. By accepting this trade, it gave me two first-round picks, three second-round picks and two third-round picks. Even more importantly, it gave me an additional first-round and second-round pick for 2024. That is a large amount of draft capital to play with now.
The draft did not go as I expected. It worked out well for me though. Jalen Carter actually fell to ninth overall. I thought there was a small chance I’d still land him despite trading down twice. Once Carter was gone, I looked at the draft board and made the decision to accept a third and final trade.
.
There were enough players on the board that I felt comfortable moving back another six spots. Gaining another second-round pick left me with four second-rounders. It worked in my favor despite my first pick most likely not being available at 16th overall.
