Chicago Bears – Pick No. 20: BJ Ojulari, DE/EDGE – LSU

The Chicago Bears have trouble getting to the quarterback. Adding BJ Ojulari should help resolve that issue rather quickly. During his time at LSU, he has accumulated 117 quarterback pressures. He had 39 this season. In his first season, he had four sacks and five tackles for loss. Last year, he finished with seven sacks and an impressive 12 tackles for loss. As of now, he has 5.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss this season. He’d likely walk on as an immediate starter for this Bears’ defense.

Having a pass rush can also help open things up for the defense. It should allow the defensive backs the ability to make more impactful plays and get some takeaways. Something this defense has been lacking this season.

Ojulari is 6’3″ and 244 pounds. He will need to add a little more weight and strength as he transitions to the NFL but will need to be careful not to lose any speed. He is a better pass rusher than a run defender, but he isn’t a liability against the run. He could benefit from playing as a standing OLB, but his talent was too good to pass up, and adding some weight to his frame should allow him to play well with his hand on the ground as he did for the Tigers.
