One way in which Justin Fields has been able to surpass some sacks is by taking off and running. Fans know that it is working for the time being, but that Justin Fields also has some chances to make passing plays, but elects to run instead.

This is fine because he is a young quarterback, but there were going to be moments this year when we wanted to see growth. We saw that on Sunday. Fields scrambled just three times on Sunday.

His 11% scramble rate was below the 16% average he has this season. So, he was scrambling about 1/3 less than he usually would. So, to see him not scramble, but still not get sacked is huge. It shows that he was hanging in the pocket and getting the football out.

His overall time to throw was down from 4.43 to 4.29, so he was not extending the play and hoping things happened when the play broke down. Maybe the shoulder injury played a role, but maybe now it helps because he is improving as a passer.

The ball is getting out quickly, big plays are coming in the passing game, and Justin Fields is passing more than ever before.
