The Chicago Bears need to start Alex Leatherwood in their final four games

Riley Reiff has been playing well. It makes sense that he has been starting. He’s been consistent and starting him last week vs Green Bay was important since Justin Fields was starting his first game since separating his shoulder.

Alex Leatherwood saw a small set of rotational snaps vs the Packers. You can tell the coaching staff is easing him back since he lost 25 pounds due to mono. It is not an easy illness to come back from. However, with four games left, it is time to see what he brings to this team. They need to be able to evaluate Leatherwood and determine if they can count on starting him in 2023 or not.

In his limited time vs the Packers, Leatherwood played well. He didn’t allow any pressures or sacks. It was a limited sample size, but that’s exactly why we need to see more of him. Justin Fields looked healthy enough to take some of our concerns away. Furthermore, he will have another full week to recover even more. That same week can be beneficial to Leatherwood too, who will have another week to build up his strength.

If Alex Leatherwood works out, it would be extremely beneficial to this franchise. Leatherwood was the 17th overall pick just two years ago and is not even 24 years old yet. He may not have worked out for the Raiders, but the potential of him working out here in Chicago is too good to pass up.
