As the Chicago Bears enter their bye week, it is easy to say that most of the season has been a disappointment. At the same time, most of the season went the way reasonable fans expected. Justin Fields was put in a no-win situation, and while the team did not win, he started to show real signs of life.

Still, while there have been positives to find this season, there have also been negatives. Who are the five players that did not live up to expectations?

5. Chicago Bears know what Trevis Gipson is now

The splits between the start of the season and now for Trevis Gipson are jaw-dropping. In the first half of the season he was a rotational rusher, and far from the center of attention for offensive lines. On the flip side, the second half saw Robert Quinn go, and Gipson became the top rusher for teams to key on.

Needless to say, after the first half, fans thought the team had something, and now fans are ready to move on from Trevis Gipson. While his production fell off a cliff, this does not say that Gipson is not NFL-caliber as much as it says that he needs to get back to the role he was in.

If the Chicago Bears have two starting rushers, the depth of Trevis Gipson and Dominique Robinson can get by. When those two are starters, they are both in big trouble. This is not a sign to move on from Gipson, but a realization that they need to keep him as depth, and he may be productive again. He should not start in the NFL, though.
