2. Chicago Bears may have something in Armon Watts

Over the past two or three weeks, Armon Watts has slowly become the team’s best interior defensive lineman. The climb to the top has been slow, Granted, it had to be, he was on the Vikings as recently as August.

The Chicago Bears claimed Watts and at worst, they appear to have a depth asset for the future. Watts shot out of a cannon from week one, and while he has been up and down, the overall trend has been steadily positive.

Watts beat out Angelo Blackson cleanly for a starter in a few weeks, and recently he has been much more impactful than Justin Jones, the player the Chicago Bears signed in free agency. Watts is younger, cheaper, and may be better at this point.

With the bye week, the team really needs to see if they think he can start next season. If they add a big body, can they rely on him, or do they just view as depth? So far, he has proven Ryan Poles right and may be the best waiver wire claim he made. A strong finish to the season would seal this.
