In his Wednesday morning press conference, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and MVP candidate Jalen Hurts faced questions about Dallas Cowboys’ pass rusher Micah Parson’s recent comments but steered his comments towards the upcoming Week 15 game versus the Chicago Bears.

Jalen Hurts talks comparisons with Justin Fields and facing a young Chicago Bears defense

When asked about Justin Fields, his development in Chicago, and how the two players’ careers have naturally garnered comparisons, Hurts stated that “[Fields] has always been a player that I’ve had a lot of respect for… there’s a definite threat over there. We have to be prepared for him.”

Obviously, Fields and Hurts won’t be actively playing against one another at the same time, but the upcoming game should be highlighted by explosive plays by both quarterbacks, who excel in the pass-and-run game.

When asked later in his press conference about the Micah Parsons situation, Hurts replied “we’re worried about the Bears right now”. A similar message was shared by left tackle Jordan Mailata, who stated that “we’re playing the Chicago Bears, not the Chicago Micah Parsons” when asked a question in regards to Parsons’ comments.

Near the end of his presser, Hurts noted that “you haven’t asked me about [the Bears’ defense], so I’ll give you one more chance.” This is not the first time this season that Hurts forced the media to ask him about a team that many in the media assume they will beat, as his comments are eerily similar to how he handled his presser before playing the Houston Texans.

When finally asked about the Chicago defense that the Eagles will face on Sunday, Hurts replied with the following:

"“They’re young … but they play fast, and are very disruptive up front. They do a lot of good things up front, getting to the quarterback and disrupting the running game, and I think their defensive backs are young but they’re really, really good. They’re really talented and they play their scheme well, so same-old same-old in terms of us preparing for a good defense. They play in a lot of close games… so we have to go out there and prepare to be in a dog fight”."
