The New York Jets (Original Pick: Zach Wilson #2)

After shooting up draft boards with an outstanding pro-day, which in hindsight seems like a trivial event when evaluating quarterbacks, newly hired Jets head coach Robert Saleh and the front office selected BYU quarterback Zach Wilson number two overall.

In his rookie season, Wilson struggled with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 13 games as a starter, but there was still optimism about his future potential. Heading into his sophomore season, the team surrounded Wilson with offensive talent in former Ohio State receiver Garrett Wilson and former Iowa State running-back Breece Hall.

However, Wilson’s 2022 season has been a letdown thus far, showcased by a 9-22 for 77 yards performance against the New England Patriots when the offense only managed to score three points. His performance, as well as his lack of accountability in his post-game presser, forced Saleh and the front office to name Mike White the starter going forward. Wilson has yet to suit up since.

The Jets have stated that their plan is to return Wilson to the starting role, but as the Jets are already on the cusp of a playoff birth with starts from Wilson, White, and Joe Flacco, it is hard not to imagine this team with Justin Fields behind center.

With a strong defense, offensive line, and weapons to work with, the Jets with Fields would not only be one of the best young teams across the league but could find themselves in the pack at the top of a loaded AFC.
