Chicago Bears Player No. 2: Larry Borom

This pick may be somewhat unpopular among Bears fans, as Borom is only in his second season and has dealt with a couple of injuries. But given his status as a day three draft pick and Poles’ willingness to draft offensive linemen, it is at least worth questioning what the Bears’ plans are for Borom past this season.

Through 10 appearances in his second season, Borom has been a solid right tackle, recording a 68.0 PFF grade while allowing four sacks and committing three penalties. However, it is unlikely this level of play has been enough to stop the Bears from looking into other options in both the upcoming draft and free agency.

It’s also worth noting that unlike rookie left tackle Braxton Jones, Borom is not one of Poles’ guys. Ryan Pace obviously thought highly of him, taking him in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, but there is no guarantee the Bears’ new general manager feels the same way.

It would be hard to imagine Borom being on the chopping block come the preseason, but the limited sample size and mixed film have many wondering if he is a stopgap or a long-term solution at tackle.
