Chicago Bears players with uncertain futures beyond 2022

Chicago Bears Player No. 3: Every WR besides Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool
To avoid redundancy, we’re going to look at the Bears’ wide receiver room as a whole rather than each player individually. Going into the season, fans were hopeful the additions of Byron Pringle, Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis, N’Keal Hardy, and Velus Jones Jr. would be enough to tide the offense over until the following offseason.
Unfortunately, that has been far from the case, as the wide receiver room’s incompetence pushed Chicago’s front office to trade the team’s second-round pick for Chase Claypool, a deal that many at the time felt was an overpay only looks worse now.
The truth is, outside of Mooney and Claypool, there isn’t anyone on the depth chart at wide receiver that has earned more time with the team. While there is still a possibility a couple of these players could stick around for 2023, depending on how the Bears approach free agency and the draft, it would have to do more with necessity than preference.
The Chicago Bears have already blown things up on the defensive side of the ball; it would be no surprise if they continued to do so on the offense, especially with one of their weakest position groups.
