Chicago Bears Mock Draft, Pick No. 2: Will Anderson, EDGE (Alabama)

For those who live under a rock, Will Anderson is one of the players that have been given the lable of “generational talent,” which personally, I’m not a huge fan of.

It seems like each year, someone is a “generational talent” instead of a “really good player.”

However, the term “generational talent” drives up the draft stock, so it’s understandable why that term is used, it just skews some perception of how good the player actually is.

That said, people who know me, know one of my biggest draft crushes is Jalen Carter from Georgia. 99 out of 100 drafts, I take Jalen Carter with the Chicago Bears pick.

And while I still would’ve liked to here, I think there’s a decent possibility that the Chicago Bears try to acquire Washington’s Daron Payne in free agency.

The Bears have rather deep pockets this offseason, and with the wide receiver market being underwhelming, it’s very possible that the Bears make a hefty offer for the 25-year-old defensive lineman.

That makes it less crucial for the Chicago Bears to get a game wrecker in Carter, so might as well go with the game wrecker on the edge.

With Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn both being traded, there’s a need for an edge rush; and considering there’s a possibility that Will Anderson has the ability to be a No. 1 pick, getting him at No. 2 seems like an easy decision.

Will Anderson stands 6-foot-4, weighing in at 243 pounds, all while being only 21 years old.

So, not only do the Bears get an athletic and cognitive machine on the edge, but they get all that in a young 21-year-old frame.

Adding Will Anderson to the Chicago Bears would and should be seen as solely positive.

Whether the Bears keep their initial pick or not, that’s not guaranteed. But if they do, Will Anderson has made it evident that he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with at the edge position for years and years to come.
