Chicago Bears Mock Draft, Pick No. 103: D.J. Turner, CB (Michigan)

Though the Chicago Bears deepened their secondary with the selections of Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker in last year’s draft, their secondary could use one more solid body at corner.

Jaylon Johnson is the team’s lead corner, then goes Kyler Gordon, and then there’s a bit of a drop-off.

If the Bears can acquire D.J. Turner from Michigan, that could be all the Bears need to really have a secondary that the team can feel more comfortable about.

With the Lions having Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams,  the Vikings having Justin Jefferson, and the Packers having Christian Watson, having a good secondary will be important for the Bears if they want to — at a bare minimum — have divisional competitiveness.

Turner is a very intriguing corner, as he runs a reported 4.28 40-yard dash, while also having what it takes to be more than a one-trick pony.

Standing 6-foot-flat and weighing in at 180 pounds, Turner’s a tad-bit undersized, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in speed.

He’s the type of corner that, if he reaches his potential, could be the second or third pair of clamps this Bears defense crucially needs.

Whether he actually makes it to 103 is up for debate, but if he is available, Ryan Poles wouldn’t be making a mistake by bringing him in.
