Justin Fields is having one hell of a season. The Chicago Bears have not been able to win many games this year, but one thing is for sure. Fields has gone from a quarterback with the potential to become great to a quarterback with the potential to become elite.
I know throwing out the word elite is a little strong, but it needs to be said. Justin Fields has shown progress this year in so many ways. The game is starting to slow down for him and we are witnessing it. His ability to not only attack a defense through the air but also on the ground makes Fields a force to be feared. Don’t take just my word for it.
Two opponents have been talking up Chicago Bears QB, Justin Fields
First up to make a positive statement about Fields without even being prompted is cornerback Darius Slay. Darius Slay knows the Chicago Bears all too well since he played for the Detroit Lions for seven years before moving on to the Philadelphia Eagles. Slay faced off against Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears as an Eagle in Week 15. He took to his podcast on “The Volume” and although unprompted, started to tell everyone just how good Fields truly is.
Slay spoke about Justin Fields running abilities and speed. He couldn’t stop gushing over just how fast Fields is. He also spoke to Justin Fields’ strength — specifically his ability to get out of tackles. At one point, Slay said that Fields is a slightly bigger and slightly faster version of Philadelphia Eagles QB, Jalen Hurts. One thing I’m sure his naysayers will hold onto after listening to Darius Slay is how he said Justin Fields thinks he is a running back. Listening to everything in context, he talks about how Fields is going to be a playmaker and great within the NFL. Nothing less.
Another player came out to speak highly of Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears are about to play the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Eve. During his podcast, Von Miller sang the praises of Justin FIelds too. Just like Darius Slay, Miller made sure everyone understood just how fast Justin Fields is. He hasn’t played him in person yet, therefore, I wonder if he’s even faster than Miller thinks.

Miller talked about how Justin Fields has all the tools to become the greatest quarterback in NFL history. If that is not high praise, I have no idea what high praise truly is these days. Miller talked about Fields’ ability to run the ball. He mentioned how if there isn’t something downfield, Fields will quickly decide to just go. Justin Fields is one of only three quarterbacks to rush for 1,000 yards. I love just how Fields is getting attention from other players around the league. It truly shows how this team has found “the guy.”
