Chicago Bears FA Target: Jack Conklin, RT – Re-Signs with Cleveland Browns

Jack Conklin would be the top right tackle to target for the Chicago Bears had he hit free agency. He was a player I wanted the organization to sign back when he left the Tennesee Titans in 2020. Conklin has been one of the most consistent right tackles in the NFL and he deserves his $60 million dollars over the next four years. Conklin would have been a huge upgrade over Larry Borom and Riley Reiff. Alex Leatherwood could stick around as competition or push for a guard spot.

Conklin will be 29 during the 2023 season and could have been an anchor on the Chicago Bears’ offensive line for the next four-plus years. It’s a shame that he won’t be in the mix for 2023. There is a bit of a drop-off at the position behind Conklin in my opinion. That said, there are still options available. Plus, who knows if a player could become available as teams assess their salary cap and make necessary roster cuts.

Another option could be that the team adds a top left tackle in the offseason and then Braxton Jones moves over to the right side. It will all come down to what’s available and how the team views Jones’ future. Teven Jenkins’ future could also be a deciding factor as his health is becoming a major concern.
