Chicago Bears Option No.5: DJ Chark
If the Chicago Bears are looking for a value play, they won’t find a better buy-low candidate than the Detroit Lions’ DJ Chark. Chark established himself as one of the Jaguars’ top skill position players back in 2019, a season that earned him a pro bowl appearance. However, Chark has struggled to recreate that magic due to abysmal quarterback play in 2020 and injuries suffered in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
In his eight games with the Lions, Chark has recorded 21 catches for 324 yards and three touchdowns. He has certainly shown flashes of brilliance, but they have been far too sparse. The lack of recent success will make it hard for Chark to find the long-term deal he’s looking for, but that doesn’t mean he can’t find a prominent role with a team.
At 26 years old, Chark is the perfect example of a buy-low candidate. He’s still young and talented, but his recent production stops him from being a hot commodity. The last time Chark was healthy, he put up 1,000 yards with Gardner Minshew at quarterback. There is enough on film to believe that version of Chark is still there and can be brought back with the right offense.
