3 Moves the Chicago Bears should make to fix the defensive line in 2023
The Chicago Bears need to sign Yannick Ngakoue
Trevis Gipson hasn’t become the player we hoped for. Al-Quadin Muhammad has been non-existent. Dominique Robinson flashed early on and has fallen off for more than half a season. He’s young and raw, but has huge upside. Ryan Poles traded Khalil Mack away before the offseason officially started and then Robert Quinn before the trade deadline. Mack has had a strong season for the Chargers but that doesn’t make the trade a poor one. Quinn has done little to nothing for the Eagles.
This team needs an outside presence on the line in 2023 and Yannick Ngakoue can become just that should he hit free agency again. Ngakoue is still relatively young at 27 years old, but more likkely to hit free agency than Daron Payne. The Colts don’t seem to know what they want to do, but they did trade for Ngakoue. Therefore, he might be in their future plans.
Ngakoue has 9.5 sacks on the season. Last year, he finished with 10 for the Las Vegas Raiders. His best seasons were with the Jaguars, but he’s found his way again over the last two years. Ryan Poles should be hoping to land both Ngakoue and Daron Payne. The two of them on the same line would make this team drastically better up front.
