The Chicago Bears’ highest-paid wide receiver and one of the higher-paid players on the active roster was Byron Pringle. Yes, you read that right, Byron Pringle. To be fair, it appears back in the summer that the thought was that Pringle would have the role that Equanimeous St. Brown had.

However, Pringle could never stay healthy. He missed most of the preseason and was eased into playing the first three weeks. Then, he missed weeks four through nine. He came back in week 10, and once again he was eased in.

Still, Pringle was limited through training camp. barely played in the preseason then missed the biggest chunk of the middle of the season, a time when the team started to find itself. It also was a time when Chase Claypool was added.

Essentially, the Chicago Bears made their mind up on Pringle before he came back from injury. He was so far behind, and even when he was healthy the team saw him as a drop-off from St. Brown.

Pringle has 73 yards in the past two games, but he has 57 yards in the 14 weeks prior to that. Ryan Poles knew what he was from his days in Kanas City, but now he has to admit it did not work out and move on to the next player available.
