The Chicago Bears are winding down what turned into a disastrous season. As they race to the number one overall pick in this last game, many fans will tune out. However, it will be the last game that many players spend with the team.

Who are five players that you will not be seeing next season?

5. Chicago Bears will have to release Cody Whitehair

Cody Whitehair has been a long-time standout with the team, but it is looking like his time with the Chicago Bears is about to end. Whitehair was once Mr. Reliable, but that has not been the case as much. Whitehair missed five games this season, the most in his career.

This season was also the worst play of his career. Whitehair started to see his play fall a bit In 2020 when he missed time and tried to play through injury. He has not been to the top of his game since.

At age 30, with injuries, and his worst play, it is hard to bet on him bouncing back. When you add In that this is not the regime that has any allegiance to Whitehair, it is hard to see him back. The Chicago Bears can mark him a post-June 1 release and save nearly $10M in salary cap space.

Maybe the team does find a way to bring him back into the mix. One thing that is for sure is that he will not be back on his current contract and salary. The team cannot pay that much to have a player who may be declining and has been injured more often.

Cody Whitehair had an underrated career, and if they did not move him around so often it would be remembered a bit more fondly. Either way, the time to move on is now.
