How big would the return be for the Chicago Bears if they trade down?

Trading down from the number one pick via Jimmy Johnson’s pick value chart to the number 10 pick would net the Bears 1,700 extra points in trade value. That is equal to the seventh pick in the draft. Meaning that going down from number one to 10 could net the Chicago Bears a return of the value of the seventh pick in the draft.

Trading down and maximizing assets is the best way to go when you are the Bears and need to fill holes in the roster before next season. Every pick matters when you have a team in need of additions as bad as the Bears.

It also helps that the team has $120 million in salary cap space for 2023. This is more than $50 million than the next team (Atlanta Falcons). With the top pick in the draft and all of this cap space, Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears have plenty to work with to turn this team from one of the worst in the league to one of the best. The rebuild may not instantly improve in 2023, but if Poles can hit where needed (free agency and the draft), then 2023 could shock some people.
