Dave Borgonzi, Chicago Bears linebackers coach

When the Chicago Bears signed Dave Borgonzi, he was looked at as a pretty big hire. He had a great track record from a football family. Overall, the team will probably bring him back. He did not get the most out of Roquan Smith, but that is probably contract related, and far out of the control of Borgonzi.

Beyond that, you would have to say that linebackers is the most promising unit on the defense. Nicholas Morrow missed an entire year with an injury and then played 99% of the snaps in his first season back. He had the green dot, lost it, and got it back again, but stayed steady in the middle. If he had a better defensive line, there probably would not be a question about whether or not he will return.

Beyond that, is Jack Sanborn. When you turn a UDFA into a starter, it is a great job by the player, but also the coaching staff. They identified him, let him grow, then trusted him to get better through playing time, which has to be a testament to the coaching staff.

Of any coach in the Chicago Bears defensive meeting rooms, the fans should trust the direction of linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi.
