Welp. It’s that time of year again. Only this year, with not only a first-round pick but the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Chicago Bears fans have even more to debate as the 2022 NFL regular season comes to a close. Obviously, the season isn’t over for a lucky 14 teams — alright, luck wasn’t the only factor — that made their way into the 2022 playoffs. For teams like the Bears though, the offseason can be just as exciting as the season itself.
Not many fans thought the Bears had a chance at the playoffs this season. Although, I’ll admit that I had some small semblance of hope when the team started the season 2-1. Then, a crushing 10-game losing streak ensued. Alright, crushing isn’t the right describing word. How about thrilling? The team kept losing, ensuring a high draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but Justin Fields looked great throughout the backend of the season — giving fans the best of both worlds.
Chicago Bears have plenty of options to make a trade with the first-overall pick
With the top pick in the draft and Ryan Poles making it clear he would need to be blown away to consider going in a different direction than Justin Fields. This means that Ryan Poles will either select the top non-QB prospect first overall or even more likely, trade that draft pick for more draft capital or possibly even players.
There have been plenty of trade scenarios thrown around social media and it gave me the idea to come up with a few crazy trade scenarios involving the first-overall pick. I’ll even have one that involves Justin Fields in case Poles is blown away by Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud.
