The Chicago Bears solidify their offensive line in this scenario

If you don’t want to bring DeForest Buckner over due to his age, maybe the better option is to bring over a player from the opposite trench on the field. Building through the trenches is important in the NFL and we all know the Chicago Bears need help on the offensive line. Quenton Nelson will be 27 next season. He also has four years left of control on his contract. Who wouldn’t want him over Cody Whitehair?

Now, Nelson is coming off a down year though. He allowed four sacks last season — has never let up more than one prior to 2022. Could that be enough to still get a decent amount of draft capital to pair with him in a trade? Here’s how I see a trade involving Nelson shaking out.

In this scenario, the Chicago Bears lock in an elite offensive lineman. If Teven Jenkins is healthy, the interior of the offensive line becomes elite with a serviceable center. Imagine if they land a better-than-average center. Wow. Not to mention, the team can still upgrade the defensive line with the fourth-overall pick and take another wide receiver with the Colts’ second-round pick.

Unfortunately, I don’t foresee the Colts agreeing to send Quenton Nelson, no matter what Chris Ballard says to the media.
