The Chicago Bears add another weapon to the offense for Justin Fields

In the final trade scenario, the Chicago Bears come away with yet another weapon for Justin Fields to develop chemistry with in 2023. This time, it’s Michael Pittman, Jr. Now, Pittman is not someone I foresee as a WR1 and not the guy I’d be targeting if I were Ryan Poles. However, if he’s an added piece to get a deal done, I am all for it.

Pittman would be another outside presence, similar to Chase Claypool. Luke Getsy (or maybe a new offensive coordinator) could play Claypool and Pittman on the outside, while Darnell Mooney plays in the slot. The difference between Pittman and Claypool though is that Pittman does more of the gritty work. He is more surehanded and can help Justin Fields in the underneath stuff that the Bears seem to be lacking at times. He can also play from the slot if needed. At 6’4″ and 220+ pounds, Pittman, Claypool and Mooney would make for a solid trio.

Pittman is only 25 and going into the final year of his rookie contract. He’s a second-rounder and therefore doesn’t have a fifth-round option. The Bears could see who they want to keep between Pittman, Claypool and Mooney as all three enter the final years of their contracts in 2023. If Pittman were to be the extra trade piece, here’s how I’d think a trade could look.

The Chicago Bears hold a lot of power right now. The team must use the draft and all of their salary cap to turn this franchise around. Justin Fields should not have any excuses come 2023 and if things don’t work out, then Ryan Poles should have enough leverage and draft capital to trade up for Caleb Williams (QB) out of USC.

This is an exciting time to be a Chicago Bears fan.
