Chicago Bears make big trade for WR in seven-round mock draft

Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 55 – Cody Mauch, OT, N.D. State
With their next second-round pick, the Chicago Bears dip back into the offensive line pot, as— again— the Bears really need offensive line help.
Sure, the Bears can address some of it in free agency, but since that’s not an option in mock drafts, I’ll stick with riding the wave as Ryan Poles would.
"“We’re going to build through the draft,” Poles said. “We’re going to acquire young, fast, and physical football players.”"
Ryan Poles believes in building his team through the draft, so, while some offensive linemen could be obtained via free agency, that doesn’t sound like the ideal way of building for Ryan Poles.
Now, Cody Mauch.
Mauch comes from an offensive scheme that has a lot of relatability to what worked well for the Chicago Bears last season. He’s a player who’s fast on his feet, while also being a big, big man that can administer punishing hits.

Cody Mauch stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 303 pounds, which actually would make him a lighter tackle in the NFL. Kicking him into a guard spot wouldn’t be a bad idea, depending on who gets him, as well as what the Bears’ line looks like at the time of the draft.
That said, the Chicago Bears have a rather large list of job openings for their offensive line, so Mauch would likely be in contention for starting his first day.
