Round 5, Pick No. 148: Josh Whyle

The 6’6″ tight end joins the Bears as a nice complementary piece to Cole Kmet. Whyle has a solid frame that could look to have more muscle added to it, but he used his length well as both a pass catcher and run blocker as a Bearcat.

His route running needs improvement, but he uses physicality to bring the ball down when targeted and made things difficult for defenders in terms of bringing him down. He was also a fine pass blocker, never giving up a sack when shifted inside.

Round 6, Pick No. 219: Clayton Tune

The Bears round up this draft class by selecting a great project quarterback to work behind Fields. The Bears would be wise to have a player that has similar arm strength and solid vision develop in offensive coordinator Luke Getsky’s offense. Tune had a great 2022 season, throwing for 3,836 yards and 37 touchdowns, while averaging 8.2 yards per pass. He’ll need to work on his mechanics at the next level, but his physical attributes make him a great Day 3 quarterback and an overall solid backup with a high ceiling to improve.
