The Chicago Bears have plenty of cap space and draft picks to fix things this off-season. Still, they also have a lot of needs. One of those is right tackle. With Luke Getsy coaching and Matt Eberflus joining Ryan Poles on the sideline, the big names for the franchise will be scouting the prospects heavily at the Senior Bowl.

One name to keep an eye on is right tackle Dawand Jones. Jones made noise from the first minute of the Senior Bowl when he weighed in. He came in at 6’8″, and 375 pounds. Jones also possesses an 89.5″ wing span. That is insane.

While the size is obviously a good thing, the Chicago Bears have a big right tackle in Larry Borom who does not have the foot quickness to live on the outside. Dawand Jones may be that exception.

Jones is a fluid mover, and it is stunning to see him go at his size. His size overpowers everyone in front of him, but movement skills may be what is going to shoot him up the draft board.

Jones took on everyone at the Senior Bowl. From small to big, and fast to powerful, he saw everything. You would be hard pressed to find a snap that Jones lost.

Of course, one last small addition is that Jones comes from Ohio State, and knows Justin Fields well. He said the two texted throughout the year to stay in touch, and he told Fields to put in a good word for him in the NFL.

Justin Fields may not be lobbying for Jones, but if the coaching staff asks Fields, he surely will have plenty to say.

This is an interesting player to watch the rest of the week. The Chicago Bears’ obvious hole, his obvious talent, and the obvious connection to Justin Fields just start the connection to Chicago.

Jones is likely to be drafted in round one, and if not, before the Chicago Bears’ second pick. So, Jones may only be realistic if the team trades down, and picks up a mid-first-round pick. Either way, this is a big name to watch, and if the Chicago Bears do end up in a position to make a move, he could be on their radar
