Chicago Bears: 5 possible early draft targets at WR
By Evan Bruner
With the postseason coming to a close in a few weeks, the NFL offseason is just around the corner, and there are few teams that have more work to do before the start of the 2023 season than the Chicago Bears.
Despite improvement from quarterback Justin Fields, the Bears as a whole took a major step back from 2021 and had one of the least talented rosters in football. While 2022 undoubtedly left a sour taste in fans’ mouths, it was a crucial part of the Bears’ rebuilding process.
Having the worst record in football does come with some advantages, and gives the Bears an opportunity to significantly improve their roster.
The Bears currently have the rights to the No. 1 overall selection, but according to early reports, the team is not set on keeping the pick. This gives Chicago additional flexibility, as they could acquire additional draft capital by giving the pick to a QB-needy team.
While many fans are obsessed with getting the most talented players at each position, there is also the often-overlooked element of fit that is crucial to determining a player’s success with a team. This is certainly the case with a position like a wide receiver, as there are so many different archetypes, and most teams may have greater use for one over the other regardless of talent and raw ability.
There are endless directions the Bears could go this offseason, which is what makes this speculation so much fun. Here are the highest-rated wide receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft and how well they would fit on the Bears.
