2. Will what Will Anderson does the best translate?

As noted with the run defense, one thing that will be interesting to see with Anderson is his playing weight. He is listed as 243 pounds, which is light for an edge rusher. This can force his run defense to become a bigger issue if he cannot hold up in the trenches. He relies on his speed to get into the backfield often, but one thing that is noticeable is how often he uses power to get into the backfield.

He plays an aggressive style, and Alabama often would shade him inside the tackle and almost over the guard, because he was so strong. Beyond that, Alabama loved to stunt him, or even stand him upright over the guard. He would get a step or two of speed, and then bull rush right through the offensive lineman.

This is great in college and for the highlight tapes, but we saw similar with Jadeveon Clowney and then we saw that it did not translate. One thing we did not see enough from Will Anderson was his ability to bend the edge, and beat tackles one-on-one with speed, or even with his length. Almost all of his wins are power, stunts, and getting matched up with an interior lineman.

He projects well and plays like a menace, but you would have liked to see more one-on-one wins against tackles in the manner in which he is built to win the NFL. Most of what he did at Alabama is not quite as translatable due to his size.
