8. Should Chicago Bears add Corey Davis?

When the New York Jets added Garrett Wilson in the NFL draft, it became an interesting dynamic for the wide receiver room. They already had Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Braxton Berrios, so the question was how would the group fit together, and who would be the odd man out.

Elijah Moore was frustrated, Braxton Berrios was phased out, and Corey Davis became less valuable as well. Overall, they need to remove one of these names to open up things for the other two. While eyes will be on Moore after his demand for a trade last season, the change in quarterback may be what changes his tune.

The player who makes the most sense for the Jets to move is Corey Davis. As noted, he was the clear number three, and with the emergence of Wilson and Moore, there is no room for him to gain. Wilson and Moore are on rookie contracts, but the Jets could free up $10.5M by trading Corey Davis.

The Chicago Bears should look at the free agent wideouts, they should look at the insane numbers that wideouts get, and they should realize that $10M to take on Corey Davis is a pretty nice bargain.

The reason Davis still played so much for the Jets was that he blocked hard, and ran crisp-timing routes. That is what had the Chicago Bears playing Dante Pettis over guys like Velus Jones and N’Keal Harry. Davis has been blocking since his days with Derrick Henry and would fit right in. Davis would be a nice upgrade from Pettis. The Bears would feel comfortable adding him, knowing his floor is high as a fit. The Jets would take a day-three pick to move on, and the Bears can easily afford him. This could make sense for both sides.
