The Chicago Bears will be in the market to add wide receivers. They may hit the draft or free agency, and there is a chance that they address the situation both ways. One player that may be on their radar is Noah Brown.

Fans will not be as excited about Noah Brown as the coaching staff. Still, to understand why the signing is likely,  you have to think like the coaches. The staff gave extra work to guys like Equanimeous St. Brown this season because his role fit with what the coaches wanted.

Things that St. Brown helped with included blocking well, but also running strong routes, that often can be run with the purpose of getting someone else open. The small picks or the clear-out routes have value, and Equanimeous St. Brown delivered.

With Noah Brown, the Chicago Bears would essentially just be upgrading that role. Noah Brown is one of the better-blocking wideouts in the NFL. The team drafted Jalen Tolbert in the third round, but he could not get on the field because they trusted Noah Brown in this role.

Brown has 1,706 career snaps, and he has 792 routes, compared to 794 snaps blocking. Last season the split was exactly down the middle as well. It is obvious where his value lies.

Beyond that, Noah Brown has 594 yards this season. That is 1.25 yards per route run, and it bumped up his career average to 1.21. On the flip side, St. Brown has 32 yards this season, and 1.15 yards per route. This bumped his average up to 1.11.

So, to recap, Noah Brown plays a similar role to Equanimeous St. Brown, he is just better at it In every way. He runs stronger routes, blocks just as well, and is more efficient at catching the football. He did not play with Justin Fields, but the small addition that he did go to Ohio State may help his case a bit.

Noah Brown is not going to get a big money deal but probably will make a small bit more than St. Brown. The Chicago Bears guaranteed nothing for St. Brown next season so if they did upgrade, it would not be an issue to bump St. Brown down the list, or move on altogether.

Fans want a big name wide out, but the Chicago Bears have shown they trust the guys who know their role more. Will that lead to an interest in Noah Brown during free agency?
