6 best free agent wide receiver fits for Chicago Bears
1. DJ Chark is the big name of NFL free agency
If the Chicago Bears are going to try a big name, it is going to be D.J. Chark. This is not your upgrade from Equanimeous St. Brown, but rather a name to give the Chicago Bears three downfield passing options. Between Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, and D.J. Chark the speed would be there that it would be hard to say that the skill set does not fit Justin Fields.
Last season Chark had seven catches for 252 yards and two touchdowns when being targeted 20 yards down the field. Jared Goff had a deep ball rate of 9%, while Fields is up at 16%. The fit is much stronger with the Chicago Bears.
The one question will come down to money. Of all of these wideouts, Chark wants to cash in. He had a bad final year with the Jaguars and went to Detroit to revive his name. He did just that, and probably feels like he deserves to cash in. Should the Chicago Bears pay Chark when it means that they probably will not make any other big wide-out moves. Mooney and Claypool will round out the group and that will be it.
Beyond that, those two will need contracts bigger or similar to Chark. That is why some of the cheaper options to fill depth and make sure the Bears are not desperate entering draft weekend make so much.
