The Chicago Bears released Al-Quadin Muhammad in a move that was not surprising. In fact, we suggested that Muhammad was the most likely player to be released this off-season. If Muhammad is gone, are there other players who may join them?

Keep your eyes peeled for the following Chicago Bears to get released from their contract before the start of NFL free agency.

3. Chicago Bears should move on from Lucas Patrick

The Chicago Bears signed Lucas Patrick to a deal that was pretty similar to Al-Quadin Muhammad. The team will save about $3.9M to release Patrick. They will eat a bit more dead cap, but save about the same.

The philosophy behind signing Patrick was similar to AQM as well. Muhammad was with Matt Eberflus before he came to Chicago, and Patrick was with Luke Getsy. Both coaches thought that they could get the most out of a name they were familiar with, and neither worked out.

Muhammad getting cut this quickly is not a great sign for Lucas Patrick to stay on the roster. For Patrick, he did get injured, which dampened his ability, while Muhammad just played poorly. Still, Patrick was awful at guard, and never got a chance at center. If the Bears want to add a center, they might as well move on from Patrick so they are not paying a backup of nearly $5M. If a name gets released in the coming days, it is likely to be Lucas Patrick.

Keep an eye on this possibility.
