3 Chicago Bears' Keys to Success for Week 9 vs the Arizona Cardinals

2) Keep the Cardinals to field goals, not touchdowns
This season, the Bears defense has possessed a tremendous "bend, don't break" spirit, allowing a league-best 36.84% touchdown efficiency in the red zone. Last week was a perfect example, as the Bears kept the Commanders' offense to just five field goal attempts prior to the final drive. Over that span, the defense allowed a seemingly alarming 405 yards, but their ability to tighten up in the red zone kept the team in the game throughout.
This week will serve as another great test for this unit, as the Cardinals possess the tenth-best red zone offense in the NFL with a 59.09% touchdown ratio. Led by Murray, the unit includes several talented playmakers, including James Conner, Trey McBride, and rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. All three players, whether due to size or consistency, pose as significant red zone matchups who could be called upon on the goal line.
Defensively, the Bears will be down at least one starter, as Jaquan Brisker is slated to miss another game due to his concussion, with Montez Sweat and Kyler Gordon both listed as questionable. Sweat's pass-rush prowess would certainly help keep the Cardinals out of the end zone, and a versatile nickel back like Gordon could help frustrate Murray by either blitzing or dropping into coverage. Regardless of who is on the field and how they get it done, the Bears have an opportunity to hold their opponent to 21 points or less for the 14th consecutive game, which would go a long way to earning a win today.
