3 players the Bears can realistically acquire at NFL trade deadline
By Ryan Heckman
With the NFL trade deadline approaching, many wonder whether or not the Chicago Bears are going to make a move. At 4-2, the Bears have begun their season on a positive note and are seeing improvement each week, especially out of rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense.
Going into the season, the Bears had a couple of notable roster concerns that Ryan Poles had not addressed to the full extent. But now? Maybe, just maybe, those roster concerns are beginning to turn a different direction.
Both the offensive line and defensive line had been an issue, but in recent weeks, the former has improved in a major way. And, overall, the Bears have done a great job pressuring quarterbacks with their defensive front.
Still, looking at a season-long journey, the Bears might be able to afford some more depth in both spots. Should Poles decide to make any trades, there are a few names who might not only become available, but look like realistic targets for Chicago.
Realistic trade targets for Ryan Poles and the Bears
Daniel Brunskill, IOL, Tennessee Titans
With the interior offensive line seemingly in constant motion, the Bears have seen that group perform a lot better in recent weeks. Ryan Bates should be coming back from injury in the near future, which will give the team another starting option as well. But, adding someone else with starting experience could benefit this group.
Daniel Brunskill can play both center and guard, but is currently a reserve for the Titans. He has starting experience played 768 snaps for the Titans last season. With Tennessee likely being sellers, Brunskill is a low-cost option for Chicago to add up front.
More Bears news:
Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, New York Giants
Although the Bears have done well getting to the quarterback, adding another pass rusher wouldn't be a bad option. The New York Giants might find themselves out of the playoff conversation in coming weeks, and Azeez Ojulari would be the perfect target here.
Ojulari found himself out of the starting front to begin the season, but is playing more now that Kayvon Thibodeaux is on injured reserve. He is only 24 years old and isn't necessarily a part of the Giants' future plans. But, he'd be a phenomenal rotational player to add into the mix. In six games, Ojulari has 3.0 sacks, five quarterback pressures and four quarterback hits.
Emmanuel Ogbah, EDGE, Miami Dolphins
Finally, if the Miami Dolphins don't turn things around this season, Emmanuel Ogbah might find himself with an opportunity to help a contending team. So far on the season, he has 2.0 sacks but an impressive 12 pressures per Next Gen Stats. Adding a veteran like Ogbah would give Chicago another experienced pass rusher and at a relatively cheap price.
