3 winners (and 2 losers) in Bears' 29-27 comeback win over Chiefs in preseason

Not the best night for the Bears but they got it done.

The Chicago Bears had high hopes in closing out the preseason the right way, and that's exactly what they got as they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 29-27.

It was a bad start for the Bears who were down 17-0 after three consecutive scoring drives led by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was able to bounce back with two scoring drives to close out the first half.

Even with the Bears dominating the time of possession by over 10 minutes, it was the Chiefs' turnover that made the difference. Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent was the man who led the comeback and closed it out with a game-winning touchdown to close things out.

This was a closer game than it was for the Bears last week, but they still had some great performances from their guys.

Winner: D'Andre Swift, RB

The stats won't be crazy to look at, but it felt like Swift was the catalyst for the offense moving the ball on the first three drives of the game. His one reception for six yards featured a nice hurdle play by him. Swift ran the ball seven times for 28 yards, including a 12-yard run. For someone people have questioned all offseason about his job after the season, Swift played well and showed he can be a three-down starter.

Loser: Nahshon Wright, CB

It has been a solid preseason for Wright, but oh man, it was an ugly, ugly game for him. Wright managed to get called for a pass interference and facemask penalty on the same play, resulting in 30 free yards for Kansas City. He was later burned on a 58-yard pass that led to a Chiefs field goal in the first quarter. Before the game, Wright might have been okay to make the roster, but after this game against the Chiefs, he's got some work to do.

Winner: Rome Odunze, WR

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams continues to show his trust in Odunze, as he was the most targeted receiver in the game with five. Odunze caught three of them for a team-high 45 yards. He had a nice 37-yard completion on the final drive of the first half, where he made some guys miss. Williams rewarded him with a three-yard touchdown catch, as that was a preview of what is expected to come for the Bears in 2025.

Loser: Tre Flowers, CB

Flowers was another cornerback who couldn't afford a bad performance, and that ended up being the case. He was penalized in the second quarter, which led to a Chiefs field goal, and then allowed a 50-yard catch before being called for a pass interference penalty on the same drive, resulting in a Kansas City touchdown. He might have played his way off the team with that game.

Winner: Tyson Bagent, QB

What a performance for the guy who got a contract extension this past week. Bagent earned every dollar after he threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score to Jahdae Walker with two seconds left in the game. He made clutch throw after clutch throw on the final drive and is the main reason the Bears stormed back to win the game.
