Chicago Bears fans are surely hoping that Ryan Poles and former head coach Matt Eberfus are getting coal under the tree this Christmas, but while the leaders of the organization have failed, there are plenty of players who are not living up to expectations as well.
Which Bears players deserve coal as their present this year?
Nate Davis
This is not even a current player on the Bears, but there is not a list of naughty players on the team without including him. The Bears went as close as you can come to saying that Davis stole from the team. There were leaks and indirect shots taken at Davis in the media that noted that while Davis had a few bumps and bruises, most of his injuries with the team were dragged out to miss time after he signed a big contract. Davis was getting paid and was not trying to play.
There is a reason Davis is a young, talented offensive lineman with good tape and yet he is still unsigned after the Bears let him go. The NFL knows where his heart is.
Tyrique Stevenson
Stevenson has to be the most disappointing Bears player, and this goes beyond his antics with the Hail Mary and his antics on the sideline. His snap-to-snap ability has gone down tremendously as well. Terell Smith has been better by the numbers despite a small sample size. Still, it has led to questions of whether Stevenson should be benched.
Tremaine Edmunds
Edmunds is not quite stealing, and it looks like he is trying in most scenarios. However, this is another player who got paid big in free agency and has not lived up to it in any way. You could argue his play has not hit close to what he did during his last season in Buffalo. In many ways, he is a liability and one of the worst defenders on the field when he is being paid to be one of the best linebackers in the NFL.
Zacch Pickens
Zacch Pickens is a massive disappointment. He came in with what looked like a pretty high floor, he just also had a low ceiling. However, in his second season, the team lost starters Gervon Dexter and Andrew Billings, yet Pickens cannot get on the field over Byron Cowart and Chris Williams. That tells you that Pickens may not even make the roster in 2025.
