There is always a debate over whether a team should want a bye week earlier or later in the season. For the Chicago Bears, it may be for the best that it came earlier. This is a young team with a lot of new faces on the roster. It was good to see how things gelled, and now the team can take a week to reassess and come out with more continuity.

Which players may be most impacted by the bye week?

5. The Chicago Bears need to see Rome Odunze progress

Rome Odunze has not been a complete disappointment for the team, but for a top-ten pick, you would like to see a little bit more. Odunze currently has 246 yards but is averaging 1.16 yards per route run, which is 74th out of 94 qualified wideouts who have run at least 66 routes.

Amongst rookies, he is tenth in yards per route run, and he is last amongst the first-round rookies in yards. Still, he came into a unique situation with D.J. Moore, who had already been established as number one. He also jumped into an offense with a rookie quarterback and a new play-caller. It was going to take time to adjust.

Odunze has had to hit the ground running and this week off will benefit him more than most other players. You often see things slow down for rookies once they get a week to have things set in and then come out of the bye week refreshed.
