The Chicago Bears found their tight end in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the No. 10 selection, the Bears selected Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.
The draft didn't necessarily play out in the Bears' favor. After the Jacksonville Jaguars made a shocking move up in the draft, it seemed clear that the Bears did not have a path to moving up in the draft in order to get ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders and select Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty went to the Raiders at No. 6, and beyond that, the three top offensive tackles were all selected ahead of the Bears' pick.
After selecting Loveland, the Bears' direction during Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft seems obvious.
5 ideal targets Bears fans should be begging for
1. TreVeyon Henderson, RB
After not having the chance to take Jeanty in the first round of the draft, the Bears will likely add a running back with one of their two second-round picks. Seemingly, the Bears will have their choice of TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and Kaleb Johnson. Of the three, Judkins and Henderson are the closest match for Ben Johnson's offense.
2. Aireontae Ersery, OT
The Bears are likely still hopeful to add a future left tackle at some point during the draft. Aireontae Ersey would be an ideal target given his three-year run at left tackle with Minnesota. Ersery may not be an immediate upgrade over Braxton Jones, but that shouldn't be a red flag considering where he will be selected.
3. Mike Green, EDGE
Ryan Poles loves his athletic draft prospects and that likely will have the Bears keeping an eye on edge rusher Mike Green. The Bears need more depth along the defensive line and Green's athletic scoring at the NFL Combine gives him and intriguing upside.
4. Will Johnson, CB
One of the biggest surprises of the draft was that Michigan cornerback Will Johnson fell out of the first round. Johnson had a knee injury flagged during the Pre-Draft process, and that would be the reason why he slipped to the second round. Given the depth the Bears have at cornerback, the team can afford to take a gamble on Johnson and his health.
5. Xavier Watts, Safety
Given Jaquan Brisker's concussion history and Kevin Byard is entering the final year of his contract, it would be a safe assumption that the Bears will add a safety. Watt would be an ideal target on Friday night as the Bears look to gain depth and upside at the position.
