6 tight ends the Chicago Bears may target in 2025 NFL Free Agency

There is an argument to be made that the Chicago Bears need a tight end just as badly as they need a slot receiver.

Considering it is more cost effective to add depth to the tight end room, this could be the path we see the team go in free agency this offseason.

Who are some free agent tight ends that would fit on the Bears?

Chris Manhertz

Manhertz has played for three different teams in the past three seasons. Still, he has been in the NFL since 2016 and played 343 snaps last year for the New York Giants because he was a trusted blocker.

Luke Farrell

Luke Farrell spent his first four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing just over 1,100 career snaps. He is a free agent for the first time this offseason. With a new coaching staff in Jacksonville, he is unlikely to re-sign, making him an affordable option for the Bears.

John Bates

John Bates spent his first four seasons with the Washington Commanders. He has 2,137 offensive snaps and, last year, had a career-high 608 snaps during the Commanders playoff run. His ability to get on the field as a trusted blocking threat improved a dynamic Washington offense.

Johnny Mundt

Johnny Mundt went from the Rams to the Vikings, signaling that Kevin O’Connell sees real value in his offense. If offensive mind O’Connell is interested, there is a real chance that Ben Johnson will view him as a similar piece.

Ian Thomas

Ian Thomas has been with the Carolina Panthers since 2018, but last year, he was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury and only played 95 snaps. Still, he is respected as a blocker and has over 3,000 career snaps.

Mo Alie-Cox

Mo Alie-Cox has been with the Indianapolis Colts since 2018 but may need a change of scenery. A former basketball player who turned into a trusted blocker sounds like someone Ben Johnson will seek out in free agency.
