I know a lot of people are excited about the possibility of Ben Johnson coaching the Bears next year. It seems like Chicago's at least one of the frontrunners to land Johnson, and the idea of, you know, a modern offense run by Caleb Williams is awfully intoxicating. On the surface, it looks like the Bears are so, so close to catching up with the rest of the league.

But, alternatively, what if the Bears went backwards? Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two forward. What if the Bears decided that their previous decision-making was Actually Very Good, and should be repeated? That's the idea that 670 The Score floated on Sunday night with a single, powerful, and thought-provoking tweet.
670 The Score is trolling us with this Matt Nagy tweet, right? Right?!
To be totally honest, I'm a little embarrassed I even took the bait here. It's 2025 β we should all be extremely aware of what is, and isn't, a legitimate idea on the internet. Do we think a sports talk radio station that measures its success in engagement really thinks Matt Nagy should be the head coach again? I guess so. I can't think of another reason why they would float this idea on a site that also measures its success in engagement. We may never know.
I'm trying to think of what Matt Nagy's Chicago Bears would look like in 2025. We never got to see his 400-level offense. Would Andy Dalton come back? Maybe Mitch Trubisky's time backing up Josh Allen has finally helped him reach his true potential. Their 5 wins would hit so much harder with some postgame dance videos. If there was one thing that was missing from the Bears this season, it was dopey names for the dopey trick plays that didn't work.
I'm being a little harsh. I can admit that. They're thought-leaders in the Chicago sports media landscape for a reason. No one else is brave enough to suggest that, actually, running back mediocrity is a good idea! Not everyone has the conviction it takes to shake up the status quo. We all owe The Score a debt of gratitude for their fearlessness.
So let's salute The Score for their very good and interesting idea. And if it also ends up being their best-performing tweet of the week, that's just well-earned engagement!!
