No one in the Windy City is feeling particularily good after the Chicago Bears lost to the Minnesota Vikings 9-3.
The only story that matters in this game is Bears quarterback Caleb Williams after leaving the game with a hamstring injury. Williams was screaming in pain, which doesn't sound great, but fans are waiting to hear what the story is.
Here are the biggest takaways from the Bears' loss to the Vikings.
Instant reactions from the Bears-Vikings game in Week 2
Garrett Bradbury struggled mightily at center for the Bears
Bradbury drew multiple penalties in the first half and had penalties on back-to-back plays. The noise is getting loud for him at center through two games, as he hasn't played up to the standard of the Bears' offensive line. Rookie second-round pick Logan Jones could get snaps at center sometime this season.
Dillon Thieneman is looking more and more like a long-term starting safety
Thieneman continues to impress in the Bears' secondary, covering the field. He finished with seven tackles and one pass deflection, making key plays, including breaking up a potential Justin Jefferson touchdown early in the first quarter. Watch the 2026 first-round pick as he keeps developing and throws himself into the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation.
Caleb Williams being hurt capped an up and down game
Williams ran well, but he made some questionable decisions; everyone talked about his injury. He completed 15-of-26 for 138 yards and one interception, adding 42 rushing yards on five carries. This has raised more questions than answers for the Bears.
Austin Booker and Dayo Odeyingbo finally stepped up to the plate
It was good to see two pass rushers who faced a ton of pressure during the offseason play well in this contest. Booker and Odeyingbo each got a sack. Odeyingbo has played well as both an edge rusher and a defensive tackle. The Bears might actually have something with the pass rush.
Jaylon Johnson actually held up well against Justin Jefferson
The weather could have played a role, but the Bears' secondary held up well, including Johnson against Jefferson. The Vikings star receiver caught three passes for 55 yards on six targets. This feels like a massive win for the Bears after they allowed a huge over 350 yards in Week 1.
James Lynch had an out of nowhere kind of game
Lynch played well in the game after getting a surprise start on the defensive line. He had seven tackles in the contest. He is adding to a defensive line that has a chance to be great, which is quite a surprise for what happened before the season starts.

Tyson Bagent has a chance to be great still
Credit to Bagent for stepping up and giving the Bears a chance to win it on some great throws on the final drive. Even if Williams is out for some time, Chicago can trust Bagent to step up and get the job done. Fans will have to see what happens with their franchise quarterback.
