The day before the Chicago Bears fan base watched their team lose to the Minnesota Vikings 27-24, they were keeping an eye on their former quarterback Justin Fields, who now leads the New York Jets.

Fields put up an impressive performance in the Jets' 34-32 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers as he finished 16 of 22 for 218 yards and a touchdown. He added another 48 yards and two scores on the ground.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn spoke with the media about Fields and how he stands by his strategy to let him play within the offense.

"I've said it from the very beginning, that we're gonna let him play quarterback & we're gonna see the things that he likes & we're also gonna progress with the things that he's not good at so he can get better in that aspect, & this is still a work in progress & we're gonna continue to work with him, & I know just because of the type of person that he is & he's always been, he's gonna do everything he can to perfect that. I look forward to seeing how he matures through this season."

Bears fans remember the dynamic play of Fields when he was in the Windy City

That type of elusive play in the passing and running game is what makes Fields more appreciated now by Bears fans after spending his first three seasons in Chicago. It certainly came with some struggles along the way as he went 10-28 as the starter and never had a winning season.

He passed for 6,674 yards and 40 touchdown passes to 30 interceptions. Fields also ran for 2,220 yards and 14 touchdowns in 40 games with the Bears. He finished ninth in the MVP voting back in 2022.

Unfortunately for Fields, Matt Nagy and Matt Eberflus were his head coaches and struggled to gain any traction with the team. The offense was simply not good enough around Fields and was forced to carry the team on his back.

Since leaving Chicago, Fields has found success as he went 4-2 as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year before reverting back to Russell Wilson after coming back from injury. That helped Fields land a nice two-year contract with the Jets in the offseason.

Fields' tenure with the Jets seems to be off to a great start and Bears fans can't be more excited for him.
